The Glen

Blasting off thursday out of Statesville we were oblivious to the ways of upstate NY. Watkins Glen is home to a huge road course and is religiously backed up by a mass of crazed fans. The company had us staying a few miles away in my old roomate Dan Ford's hometown. Corning NY is a neat little place tucked away in the Catskil Mts with a range of things to do . Good time had by all and unlike the other trips we actually got to sneek in and take a behind the scenes peek at what our pit crew does week in and week out. Steve, Michele, and i got our garage passes and proceeded to the hauler to get some lunch. After some steamed broccoli and pork roast we skated over to the pits for the opening ceremonies. Standing proudly with our pit crew some of our Navy reps stood at attention for the colors and anthem. Pretty cool experience. I would like to sincerely thank each and every one of our service men and women both at home and abroad for taking a role in the preservation of freedom. We all wish you well and pray upon your return safely. Days like today make me thankful for all i have. 8/12/06. Posted by Picasa
