Bristolized
Tonight was shaping up to be a good night for
Shane Huffman the driver of our
#88 Navy Car until late in the race. Shane has been driving the Hooters Pro cup car for JRM with good results. Currently he stands 2 nd in Hooters Pro Points. He got popped in a malay pile up that was almost unavoidable, still finishing 31 . He was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Bristol is famous for dents and destruction. Alot is still up in the air about the future plans of the team but it is exciting to visualize what the possibilities consist of. For right now i grow with each and every trip we take as i watch the company expand. Tonight was a short hop back over the mountain from Bristol TN at 10k ,290 kts, and 24 minuites. Try that in a race car you asphalt junkies. We got out a lil earlier than the rest so ATC's "cleared direct" was music to our ears . Cruise check complete Birch.
The Glen
Blasting off thursday out of Statesville we were oblivious to the ways of upstate NY.
Watkins Glen is home to a huge road course and is religiously backed up by a mass of crazed fans. The company had us staying a few miles away in my old roomate Dan Ford's hometown.
Corning NY is a neat little place tucked away in the Catskil Mts with a range of things to do . Good time had by all and unlike the other trips we actually got to sneek in and take a behind the scenes peek at what our pit crew does week in and week out. Steve, Michele, and i got our garage passes and proceeded to the hauler to get some lunch. After some steamed broccoli and pork roast we skated over to the pits for the opening ceremonies. Standing proudly with our pit crew some of our
Navy reps stood at attention for the colors and anthem. Pretty cool experience. I would like to sincerely thank each and every one of our service men and women both at home and abroad for taking a role in the preservation of freedom. We all wish you well and pray upon your return safely. Days like today make me thankful for all i have. 8/12/06.
Brickyard is Bangin
Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, Dogs and Cats of all shapes and sizes, if you are oblivious to hoorah in
Indianappolis IN then you should go on
www.travelocity.com and book a ticket right now. This place is one of the funnest stops on the tour yet. JRM put us up downtown in a plethera of restaurants and bars which makes Indy one of the neatest destinations ever. Walking the streets there was almost sureal with all the vendors and music and horse drawn carriages. It was like we were in an 18th century movie as crazy as that sounds. Birch and i tooled around for a day and a half taking in the sights and smells of the Brickyard. We had the pleasure of meeting
Brenda and Mellissa at the Hard Rock Cafe just after arriving. Cute California girls, there is something about northern Cali women i can t put my finger on but they were awesome to hang with ! WOW ! Fri. we zipped up 465 to a place called
Fast Times.
This place is a phenominal go cart track which happens to be indoors and 2 stories. I smoked Birch's ass ! ! ! On his behalf i would like to say that he cut down a tire in the 6 th turn which ruined his chances of catching me.
On a serious not Mark ran good this week in the #88 pulling off a 16th place finish after qualifying 34th. Fine job guys. Keep it up and we will be a force very soon. The flight this week was uneventful just as we like it and the scenery was breathtaking which is normal. This is a pic of the flight up to IND somewhere over N Kentucky, duration 1.4 hours, 286 kts,FL240. Hope all is well in your corner of the world. Life lesson for the week, take some time out of your day to make someone else smile ! Totally worth the effort.
Raisin a Ruckus
Holy crap this week has been so awesome, i kicked it off on a little flight instruction with Grier monday and it was much needed for both of us. I have already forgotten some of the things i normally used in everyday ops around small airplanes. Teaching i feel like is the best sharpener of all and i try to stay sharp in the cockpit of any airplane.
Also Adam and Jodi , some of my Myrtle Beach friends showed up for a good ol fashioned Carolina Throwdown. I carted them out to eat at the Fox and Hound with a few new friends
Gillian,Jen,and Maurie. After dinner we skated over to the one and only Rusty Rudder for a couple drinks and pulled up a chair on the dock.
Bonnie and Leah ended up latenighting it with us back around the casa . Wed the fun just continued after running a few errands to the hanger and the shop we turned it out in the perth cove. Adam and Jodi's first time behind a Nautique by the way. I think they had a blast on their first trip to Lake Norman. I sure enjoyed the company! Good call Adam! Brothers different mothers for sure. Much luv guys, come on back anytime if you beach bumz can handle how we roll in the LKN.
